Tip: Start building a simple bedtime routine: dim lights, feed, swaddle, white noise. Consistency matters more than perfection.

Tip: The 4-month sleep regression is coming. It is a permanent brain development change, not a setback. Lean into your routine and it will pass.
4 to 6 months
Wake window: 1.5 to 2.5 hours3 naps

Tip: This is a great time to start a consistent schedule. Most babies can handle 3 naps with clear wake windows. Introduce solids around 6 months if your pediatrician agrees.
6 to 8 months
Wake window: 2 to 3 hours2 to 3 naps (transitioning to 2)

Tip: Watch for the 3-to-2 nap transition. Signs: fighting the third nap, taking forever to fall asleep, or bedtime getting too late. Drop the third nap and move bedtime earlier temporarily.
8 to 10 months
Wake window: 2.5 to 3.5 hours2 naps

9:30 AM — Nap 1 (1 to 1.5 hours)
11:00 AM — Wake + feed + lunch
1:30 PM — Nap 2 (1 to 1.5 hours)

Tip: Separation anxiety often peaks around 8 to 10 months. A consistent bedtime routine with a clear goodbye ritual helps. Keep it boring and predictable.
10 to 12 months
Wake window: 3 to 4 hours2 naps (some babies start moving to 1 near 12 months)

10:00 AM — Nap 1 (1 to 1.5 hours)
11:30 AM — Wake + lunch
2:30 PM — Nap 2 (1 to 1.5 hours)

Tip: If your baby is consistently fighting one of the two naps for 2+ weeks, they may be ready to transition to one nap. Most babies are not ready for this until 13 to 15 months, so do not rush it.
